There's some serious culture on the Great Lakes and Five Lakes Surf Club is on a mission to document and preserve that culture.

 

We began this work in 2024 but the culture precedes us by decades. Since the 50s, small tribes of dedicated surfers have come together to form culture through clubs, home videos, magazines, and hangouts.

 

These rag-tag efforts are the bones to the community. We are here to support and celebrate those efforts. Documenting, naming, and celebrating will keep us on the path of preservation.

 

We understand everything changes and that our efforts will naturally bring increased awareness to the culture which will inevitably and ironically change it. Yet the risk of doing nothing and allowing our precious culture to slip away is not one we are willing to take.
